Instruction manual for PowCon SM? I was just given a PowCon SM welder and would appreciate a source for an instruction manual.

My first requirement is to properly connect the primary for single phase so if anyone knows that scheme, it will ge greatly appreciated.

It appears to be currently set for 3 phase based on the plug and some hand writing on the case. Presumably it works but I'd like to check it out before investing much in it. PowCon gets good reviews from my reading on this site and others, except for sole-source repair and high parts prices. After that, you can buy your desired PowCon welding machine from an authentic dealer.

As time passed, they lost their market, and their production also reduced. Those who bought durable PowCon welders and using them till now are getting good service. You will always need a sophisticated welder to complete bodywork; an ordinary one is not sufficient. You may want a versatile welder to fulfill your maximum purposes, such as underwater, pipelines, industrial, military support, etc.

Lincoln Wirematic I was hoping to have a manual for it by the time it arrived here in TX, I have a few other Powcons I love these machines but I have never seen an SE, from looking at the front panel it appears to have some other functions, like possible AC TIG??? Did you have a SMT on ebay a few weeks back? My current primary machine is a smt with the ESAB suitcase feeder.

I have an air cooled TIG torch for it too. Plus the other Powcon I have for sale in my sig. That setup is pretty unique too. They didn't make many of the 5P units or the RotoDrives before switching to the more traditional powerdrive setup. It looks like a CC only machine with the switches to choose between internal and remote for the contactor and amp control or maybe arc force. I wonder if its a single phase only machine like the SM's that I had and sold.
